HRDO, DGO Launch Online Version of Gender Sensitivity Training

The Online Gender Sensitivity Training was concluded last August 24-25 and September 10-11, with 51 UPD employees joining the four-day web-based lecture via Zoom. The webinar was presented by the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO), in collaboration with the Diliman Gender Office (DGO).

Ms. Leizel Lectura of HRDO and Ms. Kristel May Magdaraog of DGO opened the training session for day 1.


DGO Counselor and Psychology Professor Don Gaba discussed the basic gender concepts, while SOGIE Officer Giano Ray Potes discussed the historical context of gender in the Philippines. Atty. Alnie G. Foja subsequently provided insights about gender and law on the second day. Meanwhile, Office of Anti-sexual Harassment (OASH) Officer Janet De Leon and Dr. Remedios Mondiquing led the floor during the question and answer portion about the UP Anti-sexual Harassment Code. HRDBD Chief Leizel Lectura and DGO Officer-in-charge Kristel May Magdaraog welcomed the participants and reinforced the importance of having a gender-sensitive and responsive UP community.

Mr. Don Gaba and Mx. Giano Potes discussed the concepts pertaining to and history of gender.


In addition to the lectures provided by the resource speakers, attendees were also able to send their queries during the open forum portion. A wide variety of questions were discussed, ranging from the use of correct pronouns when addressing a person, to legal cases of sexual harassment. A record of 28 employees participated in the first run, while 23 took part in the webinar in the second run.

Atty. Alnie Foja answered some queries about gender and law, while Ms. Janet De Leon entertained questions about the anti-sexual harassment code of the university.
